Will Dahl grew up on a dairy farm in rural Blair, Wisconsin. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from UW-Whitewater and a Master's and Ph.D. in Agri-business Marketing and Economics from UW-Madison. Will has been an accountant for a large manufacturing firm, a college professor, a marketing director and CEO of a large marketing organization. Will has been involved in KELC's development since the school opened in 1996. He joined Kids Express Learning Center, Inc. (KELC) full-time in 2000 as the Chief Executive Officer.
As Administrator/Owner, Will divides his time between managing the financial aspects of KELC and researching and designing new programs for KELC. He turned a 150-year-old barn into two classrooms as one of his first 'full-time' projects as CEO. He directed the renovation of the Dahl family home in 2005, allowing "The Dahlhouse" classrooms to open in August of that year and to serve children from birth to four years of age. "Farmer Will's Nature Nook Bus," the hub of KELC's science program, was a Mr. Will project as well. Will is forever finding new projects to keep KELC growing stronger as a quality early learning center for children.
In August 2008, Will designed and managed the construction of the 12,000-square-foot addition to The Dahlhouse. In less than a month, he had the middle floor open for business. Wind in the Willows and Over in the Meadow classrooms now serve Madison area three-year-olds! The lower-level gymnasiums and The Velveteen Rabbit classroom, for young twos, opened in 2009, and the third-floor office complex was completed in the fall of 2012.
Will continues to promote development of the KELC Vineyard, which provides a unique gardening experience for KELC. He assisted with the redesign of the animal pastures and sponsored the building of KELC's Little Augusta putting green in 2013.
Will is the father of four grown children and has seven wonderful grandchildren. He loves to play and listen to music and is passionate about his 140-acre farm in Central Wisconsin. Will played a leading role in the development and financial management of son Tim's new Madison restaurant, Nostrano, which is located at 111 N. Hamilton on the capital square in Madison. Will and Sandy, co-owners of KELC, have been married for 47 years.
