Sherry grew up on the East Coast in Delaware. As a child, she spent many hours reading and enjoying the outdoors. Her favorite childhood book was The Cheerful Quiet by Betty Horvath. She continues to read the book a few times each year!
After majoring in Biology at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, Sherry moved to Madison to pursue graduate work, and eventually earned a PhD in Entomology from UW-Madison. She loved it so much in Wisconsin that she never left. In addition to raising her children, Sherry has also taught at Madison College and at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
Sherry and her husband have three teenaged daughters. Her family loves to travel together, especially to National Parks. One of her family’s favorite trips was to Yosemite in California, and to Grand Teton, in Wyoming. In Sherry’s opinion, there is nothing better than hiking with family and enjoying our beautiful world! When at home, you can usually find Sherry in her garden, curled up with a good book and a cup of coffee, or out walking with her Golden Retriever named Daisy.
Sherry is very excited about being a part of the Administrative Team at Kids Express Learning Center. As a child, she watched a television show featuring a woman teaching children in a little cabin in the woods. She was so mesmerized by the way the character made nature come alive for the children that she built a connection to that same passion. The wonderful curriculum and natural setting, coupled with incredible teachers and specialists, makes Kids Express a perfect home for Sherry.
