Corgiville Fair Nursery
Corgiville Fair Nursery is located in the lower level of The Dahlhouse and nurtures the youngest learners at Kids Express Learning Center. Up to eight children, six weeks to a year old, attend the nursery each day. Two teachers are devoted to the children's care, with a third teacher sharing her time between the nursery and the adjoining toddler room.
Weather permitting, the children enjoy daily stroller rides around the ten-acre campus, time on the Infant/Toddler playground and plenty of floor time and cuddle time with their teachers. When weather restricts outdoor activities, the children enjoy a change of venue in Little Engine That Could, our smaller of two gyms where the children have extra space for playing with large toys.
Parents and teachers work together to develop individual sleeping, eating and playtime plans for each baby, and teachers inform parents of the child's daily experiences, including nap, feeding and diapering details. The nursery environment is rich with milestone moments, abundant enthusiasm and genuine affection.
Make Way for Ducklings
Make Way for Ducklings classroom is home to eight infant/toddlers. This bright, cheery, well-lit room is located in Building #3, The Dahlhouse.
A peak into this classroom may reveal the 'ducklings' (toddlers) feeding themselves, crawling up the climber, sliding down the slide or sitting in a group enjoying flannel-board stories. Watching the 'ducklings' toddle along the garden-lined pathways to the playground or science bus is a pleasantly "grounding" experience.
Degreed teachers are mindful of developmental milestones as they create daily activity plans for these young explorers. Specialists in physical education, science/nature, gardening and Musikgarten enrich the lives of children each week.
The Velveteen Rabbit
The Velveteen Rabbit classroom opened in August 2009 as an early childhood classroom for children graduating from the infant/toddler classrooms. Students in this beautiful classroom have the advantage of gazing out into Prairie View Farm's Children's Garden from the spacious windows that line two sides of the room. Easy access to Little Engine That Could, our smaller gym and the main KELC gym make this new room a special delight to children, teachers and families!
Specials, or enrichment classes, are offered to children enrolled in this classroom. Nature, music and physical education classes are offered during the academic school year. Gardening classes start in early spring and run through the fall of each year.
Time of Wonder
Time of Wonder classroom, located in The Dahlhouse, is home to children who have just graduated from our infant/toddler classrooms. It is a classroom filled with interesting nooks and crannies from floor to ceiling. Unique, moveable fans whisper breezes downward during the school day while a large, wooden airplane, suspended from the classroom's rafters, adds a sense of wonder to the environment.
Teachers in Time of Wonder plan activities to help their young charges develop confidence, independence, curiosity and motivation. Cooperation, empathy and self-control are skills teachers encourage daily. Indoor and outdoor activities round out each school day's experience. Nature study, Musikgarten, PE and gardening classes enrich the children's learning environment.
The teddy bears' picnic
Children moving toward their second birthday are welcomed into this pleasant, full-day classroom which is located in Building #3. A spacious two-story maple loft captures the attention of children entering the classroom for the first time. Each day, teachers plan activities designed to meet the broadening skills of the children who walk through the classroom doors. Emerging preschool activities in language arts, math, science, music and art are woven into the weekly lesson plans to encourage school readiness.
Cooperation, empathy and self-control, so important to success in the early years of school, are modeled and practiced in all classrooms at KELC. Individual, as well as small and large group activities are planned to meet the developmental needs of children. Nature study, Physical Education, and Gardening activities round out the rich general curriculum offered by KELC teachers.
