KELC has provided exceptional four and five-year-old kindergarten and preschool programs to area children for more than sixteen years. Our mission to provide ‘Quality Education in a Rural Setting’ is realized through dedicated professional teachers, sound curriculum, and outstanding enrichment programs conducted on our beautiful eight-acre campus.
Our degreed teachers develop lesson plans for child-centered, tangible learning experiences. Teachers assess and track each child’s progress, using our highly-regarded portfolio program, and together with parents review the portfolio (replete with examples of the child’s work and progress) and design individual goals for each child.
KELC is committed to promoting children’s confidence in themselves as learners, and to helping them build strong foundations in reading, writing, language and mathematics; through meaningful, fun, interactive, and rewarding activities.
KELC is also dedicated to providing children with extraordinary enrichment experiences, through creative art, music and movement, dramatic play, gardening, science and nature studies, physical education, character education, and multi-cultural programming. Our enrichment programs nurture children’s natural enthusiasm for learning while offering them a broader view of the natural world and connections between its infinite parts.
Across all settings, KELC teachers are ever mindful of the most important aspects of children’s development; social and emotional growth. Each child is nurtured and valued as an individual, and teachers strive to help each student gain the academic and emotional foundations the child will need to reach his or her fullest potential.
Our teachers’ own learning experiences and backgrounds nurture their appreciation for the diversity of experience, learning styles, and personalities their students bring to the classroom; after all, every good teacher is a dedicated learner.
Important Information About KELC’s 4K Program:
- Teacher child ratio is 1 to 12 maximum. Currently KELC’s 4K classrooms average about 1 to 7.
- Children are offered special classes which include nature study/science; physical education and music.
- Individualized portfolio assessment program allows children to work and achieve as they are ready and capable. Children are challenged in 7 developmental areas and advanced at their own pace.
- Full-day program is available for working parents or those who wish to make the transition to full-day kindergarten easier for their child. Surround care is also available making the day 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. if needed.
- Half day programs are available for those parents who wish their child to participate but do not need or desire the full day learning experience.
- All teachers in 4K classrooms have a minimum of a 4-year-degree in education. These DPI certified teachers are with the children the entire day.
- Parents can choose their child’s schedule from our available schedule options.
