Summer Camp Specials

Prairie View Farm's Children's Garden
The Gardening Teacher, Miss Georgine, will lead campers in amending the soil with KELC's compost, designing, planting, tending and harvesting foods and flowers. Children will hear garden related stories told and read under the shade of an apple tree. They will play in the water and observe creepy critters that may be friends or foes of the garden. Picking and enjoying fresh foods and flowers is a natural reward all campers will earn.

Out-of-the-ordinary experiences occur daily as campers meander through the garden noting animal habitats, places for pets and private refuges that offer shade from the sun. Vine covered arches, bushes and trees provide beautiful settings for conversations, songs and lessons.

Creative Connections Art Program
Creative Connections Art Cottage will be a busy place this summer. Campers will have many opportunities to express their ideas through paint, clay, wood-working, sculpting, nature art and other mediums. The Annual Summer Family Picnic and Art Auction will be a culminating highlight to our program.

Sports for Kids
Summer campers will experience a number of sports activities as they prepare for the Annual KELC Summer Olympics. Developmental concepts will be presented in a variety of ways. Games, ball-handling activities, tennis, mini-golf, and exercises will all help children expand their phyiscal and cognitive skills as well as offer an enjoyable outdoor time.

Kids & Keyboards
Jenni Nacker Landretti will be on campus offering her popular music classes for campers at every age level. Sing-alongs for classrooms and special song fests for the entire school make this program one campers truly enjoy. Keyboarding lessons will be offered to individuals and small groups of campers.

Animal Studies
Mr. Rich's passion for animals is clear to one and all. Campers will learn to love and respect our feathered and furry friends as Mr. Rich leads them to Farmer Will's Nature Nook bus for stories and animal project work. His lessons always include a trip to the woods, pastures or garden areas to interact with our animal friends.
