Summer on Prairie View Farm is a wonderful time for children. All thirteen classrooms take on a new look as teachers prepare activities for summer fun. Gardens invite children to plant, tend, and share in the bounty of the harvest. Animals line up at the fences to beg for treats. Farmer Will's Nature Nook bus offers a peek into the woodland beauty of Elver Park during nature study lessons. And, as had become a tradition at KELC, Creative Connections Art Cottage welcomes budding artists to enter. The KELC campus offers pastures, tennis court and eight acres of grass for children's summer fun! Each day, children meet with their camp teachers to engage in high quality learning activities related to camp themes. Openings, closings, lunch and snack are held with homeroom teachers. Prairie View Farm Children's Garden All summer long, children work with KELC's Children's Gardener in the vegetable, fruit and flower gardens. Organic gardening is a specialty at KELC. Outdoor Sports Games, team sports, and individual challenges abound as the 8 acre KELC campus hosts a variety of athletic activities for children. Creative Connections Cottage Budding artists visit the art teacher to create masterpieces to share with their families! The summer picnic and art auction are a family favorite at KELC. Kids and Keyboards Summer wouldn't be summer at KELC without songs, rhythms and keyboarding.
